Is it feasible to live outside of London and commute in by train/subway? Too long? Too expensive? Too painful? Which would be the best areas for that?
Thx – your site is soooooo helpful

Hi JPD, yes! Lots of people commute from outside the city. It will probably take you about an hour each way though. If you’re interested in the suburbs outside London, I’d recommend checking out http://www.commuterguide.co.uk.
